ShockWatch 2®

In addition to the tried-and-tested ShockWatch labels currently in successful use, the ShockWatch 2® offers a range of benefits that significantly expand the scope of application of ShockWatch impact indicators for users (manufacturers, shippers). The main focus here is on the new, additional 5g version. Standardised ShockWatch® transport monitoring of parcels weighing up to 14 tonnes is now no longer a problem.

A further advantage lies in the activation of the indicator. Compared with ShockWatch® labels, which are always ‘active’, the ShockWatch 2® is only activated before being attached to the consignment. This allows for straightforward transport to the point of use and simplifies the handling of the indicators prior to deployment. They are self-adhesive and are activated by peeling off the protective film on the reverse side.

The ShockWatch 2®’s activation mechanism is primarily designed for the vertical (perpendicular) impact axis. The Label is triggered – or changes colour – when the impact angle is between 45° and 90° to the ground. The label must be affixed so that the two indicator windows are positioned at the top and bottom respectively. The clearly visible serial number prevents the indicator from being replaced and deters attempts at tampering. We strongly recommend that the serial number be recorded in the dispatch documents or internal records.

As with the ShockWatch labels, the ShockWatch 2® is supplied with trilingual warning stickers in DIN A4 format. These ensure that the shock indicator is clearly and unmistakably visible on the package and provide all parties involved in the transport with instructions in German, English and French on how to proceed if the indicator is triggered.

When the ShockWatch 2® indicators are fitted as shown, they are triggered by vertical (perpendicular) impacts. The window facing the direction of the impact turns red.

1. Affixing the ShockWatch indicator and the DIN A4 or DIN A5 warning labels to the packaging
2.  The carrier confirms that the ShockWatch 2® is undamaged upon collection of the goods
3. The goods reception department checks the impact indicator upon delivery
4. Upon delivery, the carrier must confirm any triggered or missing indicator and will not receive a simple receipt
5. Following a thorough inspection of the product, the goods are either released or a claim for transport damage is processed
