The ShockWatch 2® QR Impact Indicator is a mechanical impact indicator designed to monitor shock-sensitive shipments during transportation and storage. It is based on the proven ShockWatch 2 concept and extends it with QR-enabled digital documentation of the inspection point.
ShockWatch 2® QR is suitable for a wide range of applications and for shipments weighing up to several tons. It enables clear and traceable monitoring of shock exposure throughout the entire transport process – from handover to the carrier through to goods receiving.
Application
Unlike permanently active impact indicators, ShockWatch 2® QR is activated only immediately before being applied to the shipment. This simplifies transport and handling of the indicators prior to use. The indicator is self-adhesive and is activated by removing the protective backing.
After activation, the indicator is applied to the outside of the package. The triggering behavior is primarily defined for the vertical shock axis. Activation occurs for impact angles between 45° and 90° relative to the ground. The indicator windows must be aligned at the top and bottom.
Interpretation of ShockWatch 2® QR
When the defined impact limit is exceeded, the indicator window facing the direction of the shock permanently turns red:
Lower window red: Impact from below
Upper window red: Impact from above
In addition to the visual indication, ShockWatch 2® QR features a QR code. When scanned with a smartphone, the time and date of the scan as well as the corresponding location are recorded.
Warning Labels and Scope of Supply
Warning labels are included to clearly mark monitored shipments, as well as additional labels for shipping documents sized 76 × 25 mm . The labels ensure high visibility of the impact indicator and inform all parties involved about correct handling in the event of an activated indicator.
Selecting the Right ShockWatch 2® QR Indicator
Selecting the correct impact indicator is essential for reliable transport monitoring. The indicator must be chosen so that it triggers neither too early nor too late.
The selection is based on the package size (L × W × H in cubic meters) and the total shipment weight including packaging. Using these parameters, the appropriate impact sensitivity level can be determined.
