The seamless monitoring of the cold chain for blood supplies is a central challenge in everyday medical practice. Even slight deviations from the prescribed storage conditions can compromise the quality and safety of blood supplies. An interruption in the cold chain can lead to unnoticed temperature exceedances, affecting the efficacy of the blood supplies and posing health risks to patients.
The BloodTemp indicator offers an efficient and reliable method to address this issue by monitoring the safety and usability of blood supplies during storage and transportation. This indicator is specifically designed to monitor the core temperature of blood bags and alert to potential temperature deviations that could compromise the quality of the blood supply.
Once activated, BloodTemp continuously monitors whether the temperature of a blood supply exceeds +10°C. If this occurs, the indicator window changes color from white to blue, indicating a potential loss of quality. This visual change signifies that the blood supply should no longer be used and must be discarded. If no color change occurs, the blood supply remains in optimal condition and can be safely stored or reused.
