The tempmate.® -GS2+ TH real-time data logger monitors temperature, relative humidity, light, shock, tilt, movement and location during transport and storage. The device combines the recording of relevant transport conditions with GNSS-based positioning and the automatic transmission of measurement data to the tempmate.® -Cloud.
For positioning, the data logger uses GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and A-GPS. If a sufficient GNSS position is not available, the device can additionally use Wi-Fi positioning or Cell-ID positioning via mobile network towers. The Wi-Fi function is used exclusively for positioning and does not provide a Wi-Fi data connection. According to the manufacturer, location accuracy of up to 3 metres is possible under suitable conditions.
The combined evaluation of measurement values, transport events and location information provides traceable documentation for quality control, goods receipt, deviation assessment and damage analysis. If no mobile network connection is available, the logger continues recording and stores the data internally. Once the connection is restored, the stored information is transmitted to the cloud.
Typical applications include:
Transport and storage of temperature- and humidity-sensitive goods
International supply chains requiring real-time data transmission and location monitoring
Shipments for which shock, tilt or movement events must be documented
Transport monitoring with configurable measurement and alarm limits
Applications requiring additional local data storage and cloud-based evaluation
How the tempmate.® -GS2+ TH real-time data logger works
The tempmate.® -GS2+ TH measures temperatures from -30 °C to +70 °C and relative humidity from 0% to 100% RH. The device also records ambient light, shock events, changes in tilt and movement. The integrated 3-axis acceleration sensor operates within a range of 0 to 16 g per axis. Eight indicator ranges are available for shock detection. A tip-over event is detected when the tilt changes by more than 90°.
The logging interval can be programmed from 1 to 60 minutes. The transmission interval can be configured from 10 to 1,440 minutes. The default settings are a logging interval of 10 minutes and a transmission interval of 240 minutes. With this configuration, the runtime is up to 120 days.
Data is transmitted via 4G LTE Cat 1 with 2G fallback. Unlimited storage is available for transmitted readings in the tempmate.® -Cloud. The data logger also stores up to 24,200 temperature, relative humidity and light readings in its internal memory.
The internal memory operates as a ring buffer. Once its capacity is reached, the oldest stored entries are automatically overwritten. If no mobile network connection is available, the measurement data continues to be stored internally. Once a connection is restored, the logger transmits the stored data to the tempmate.® -Cloud. Alternatively, the data can be accessed via the USB 2.0 interface.
GNSS positioning, cloud configuration and evaluation
The tempmate.® -GS2+ TH is supplied as an unregistered and unconfigured device. Before first use, it must be assigned to a tempmate.® -Cloud account and configured in the cloud. After being started, the data logger connects to the cloud, receives the stored configuration and then begins recording.
To start the device, the green button must be pressed for at least 5 seconds. A successful start is confirmed by “START”, the recording symbol “R” and the blue LED. To stop the device, the red button must be pressed for at least 5 seconds. A successful stop is indicated by “88888” on the display, the disappearance of the recording symbol and the red LED. Alternatively, the device can be stopped through the tempmate.® -Cloud.
The data logger is designed as a single-use device with limited multiple use. It can be started up to three times within the maximum runtime of 120 days. Before restarting, the battery level should be checked and the device charged via USB if necessary. Charging does not extend the maximum total runtime of 120 days. A USB cable is not included.
A temporary PDF report can be generated at any time through the tempmate.® -Cloud without stopping the data logger. Reports are also available locally via USB 2.0. Up to six alarm limits can be configured individually and evaluated as single or cumulative alarms.
Automatic flight detection suspends mobile transmission during a detected flight. According to the manufacturer, corresponding airline approval documentation is available.
