Consistent monitoring during the transport of a wide variety of goods is more important today than ever before. Regardless of whether you are transporting machines, foodstuffs or other sensitive goods - reliable transport monitoring is essential. The advantages: Recurring transport damage can be recognised earlier, the events that led to the damage can be better traced, those responsible in the supply chain can be identified and liability issues can be objectively assessed. A complete inspection ex works is therefore becoming increasingly important.
Safe transport with the right indicator
During transport, goods are subject to many different influences, which can damage them. In order to be able to provide complete information about the circumstances of your shipment, you need a complete monitoring system - because product damage caused by e.g. damage caused by dropping, falling, heavy tipping or non-compliance with temperature specifications are among the most common reasons for complaints in the mail order business - and this can result in considerable consequential costs. In the event of transport damage, you not only lose money, but also the trust of your customers and your good reputation as a reliable seller or carrier.
Which transport indicator is the right one for you?
Sensitive products, whether electrical or medical devices, temperature-sensitive food or medicines - special care is required when transporting sensitive goods. This starts with the packaging: when packing, use high-quality filling and padding material, strong cardboard, drying agents and adhesive tape.
However, good packaging is only one part of ensuring safe shipping!
It is important that your sensitive product is also handled properly by the carrier during transport. With special transport indicators, you can ensure complete monitoring of your transport until it is received by your customers. Any improper handling during transport can be registered and tracked!
What kind of transport indicators are there? How do they work and which one is the right one for your product and your shipping conditions?
shock indicators
With shock indicators, you ensure that damage to goods can be recognised and traced at an early stage. Depending on the size, weight and sensitivity of your shipping goods, there are different versions of impact indicators. Bump indicators allow you to recognise immediately whether your goods have fallen over, been bumped too hard or have been set down roughly. In this case, the indicator turns red and immediately indicates that a certain value has been exceeded. This makes it possible to determine when damage has occurred, even for shipments with many different intermediate stops.
Tipping indicators
Your goods may only be transported upright? Then you should label your parcel with a tipping indicator. With tilt indicators, you can easily determine whether the upright handling you have specified has been adhered to when transporting your products. Tilt indicators change colour immediately and irreversibly from white to red as soon as your packaged goods are tilted beyond a certain angle. They also show how many degrees the packaged item has been tilted. Tilt indicators are a particularly simple method of checking upright transport.
Are you transporting heat- or cold-sensitive products? Then you should never ship your packaged goods without a temperature indicator! Temperature indicators check temperature-sensitive products during transport or storage. They show at a glance whether your product has been exposed to harmful temperatures.
Through irreversible discolouration, the indicators reliably show whether your product has been exposed to temperatures above or below the limit value you have selected.
Humidity indicators
High relative humidity can cause irreparable damage to sensitive equipment, consumables, products and loads. You should use humidity indicators so that you can check that the relative humidity in the area surrounding your goods has never exceeded a reliable value during transport. Humidity indicators provide visual evidence of the relative humidity in a packaging environment. If the indicator shows a high level of humidity, recognisable by a corresponding staining, you know that your products need to be checked for possible damage.
